Team Picnic PostNL coach Christian Guiberteau: “After two editions for the climbers, the parcours this year at Classic Var is a bit flatter and on paper is one that suits a sprint finish of some kind. However, there are enough climbs and twisting roads that the peloton can make it a harder race than it seems. We need to be ready from the flag drop to cover any dangerous big groups if they form, so we can be represented and ride on the front foot. Coming into the final it is technical so we will need to ride well as a group to make sure we are in position to go for it come the line. It’s the first race of the season for quite a few of the guys so we also want to focus on getting back into the racing rhythm, communicate well, and support each other throughout the day.”
