Team Picnic PostNL coach Melvin Rulliere: “Racing a Monument like Milano–Sanremo is always a special moment for any rider. It’s a very long and demanding day where energy management will be crucial from start to finish. We head to the race with the ambition to achieve the best possible result with riders like Bjorn and John. Being close to the coast often makes the race more nervous, so positioning and staying attentive throughout the day will be key. In the end, the Cipressa and the Poggio usually decide how the race unfolds. You can make all the plans you want, but in the end it often comes down to positioning and the legs on those final climbs. With a mix of young and more experienced riders, we’re curious to see what we can achieve.”
