The women’s peloton took on the very first edition of the Copenhagen Sprint Women today, starting in Roskilde and finishing in the heart of Denmark’s capital. Featuring a flat and technical city circuit through the Danish capital, the race was set up for sprinters, and it didn’t disappoint.
An early 4-rider breakaway animated the middle phase of the race, but the peloton kept things tight and brought the attackers back well before the final. From there, the pace ramped up and the battle for positioning began. A crash at 8.5km to go disrupted the bunch, but the Team Picnic PostNL sprint train avoided the chaos and remained in position. The final run-in was fast and technical, with the team working well to guide Charlotte Kool to the finish. In the end, Kool sprinted to fourth place, capping off a solid team performance in the debut of this exciting new race.
