Fan Favourite: Your April Photo of the Month

Each month, we invite you to choose our Photo of the Month through a vote on our Instagram channel. This April, we once again had three beautiful moments to pick from.

On the left, Niklas Märkl is giving it everything over the brutal cobbles of the Trouée d’Arenberg during Paris-Roubaix, his face a perfect reflection of the suffering the race demands. In the centre, a beautiful shot from the Amstel Gold Race: the peloton speeding through the Limburg countryside, with a traditional Dutch windmill standing tall in the background. On the right, a colourful scene from Liège-Bastogne-Liège Femmes, showing the peloton racing through a typical Belgian town, surrounded by flags, cheering fans, and classic Walloon houses.

After a close vote, the photo of Niklas Märkl in Paris-Roubaix was crowned Photo of the Month for April, collecting 44% of the votes. It’s a photo that captures the raw essence of the Hell of the North: pure pain, determination, and fight. Unfortunately, the race also brought its fair share of bad luck for Team Picnic PostNL, with several injuries among our riders, but the images from the day remain truly spectacular.

Just behind, with 41% of the votes, came the shot from the Amstel Gold Race. The contrast between the speeding, blurred peloton and the sharply focused windmill symbolises a perfect Dutch racing scene. Fittingly, Frank van den Broek was the best-placed Dutch rider of the day on these classic Dutch roads.

The third photo, from Liège-Bastogne-Liège Femmes, received 15% of the votes. It’s a vibrant, colourful glimpse into racing in Belgium, with the packed roadside fans and the small-town backdrop bringing the spirit of the Ardennes Classics to life.

Three stunning photos, but it was Niklas Märkl’s heroic battle over the cobbles that ultimately stole the show this month.
