Each month, we invite you to choose our Photo of the Month through a vote on our Instagram channel. This March, we had three standout moments to pick from. On the left, Romain Combaud’s face is covered in dust after the brutal white roads of Strade Bianche – a snapshot of pure grit and suffering. In the centre, we see Nils Eekhoff crossing the line victorious at Nokere Koerse, a moment made even more special as it was his first race back after injury. On the right, Charlotte Kool captures a podium selfie at Gent-Wevelgem, celebrating her third place alongside the day’s winner and runner-up.
It was never really in doubt – with an overwhelming 75% of the votes, Nils Eekhoff’s triumphant finish at Nokere Koerse was chosen as the Photo of the Month for March. Just weeks earlier, Nils suffered a heavy crash at the AlUla Tour, colliding with a lamp post at high speed. The impact left him with a fractured jaw and broken teeth, forcing him onto a strict liquid diet while he recovered. But from the moment he hit the ground, Nils was determined to fight back. After weeks of hard work and patience, his return to racing could not have gone any better – winning at Nokere Koerse in his very first race back. His emotion as he crossed the line says it all.
The battle for second place in the vote was much closer. The dusty image of Romain Combaud at Strade Bianche picked up 12% of the votes, while Charlotte Kool’s podium selfie from Gent-Wevelgem edged ahead with 13%. Three brilliant photos, but there could only be one winner – and there’s no doubt that Nils’ comeback victory is a moment to remember.
