Each month, we invite you to choose our Photo of the Month through a vote on our Instagram channel. For May, we once again had three powerful images to choose from, each capturing a unique and emotional moment from the Giro d’Italia.
On the left, a shot that needs no explanation: Casper van Uden roaring in celebration after his stunning sprint win on Stage 4 of the Giro. His fists clenched, mouth wide open in celebration; pure emotion after a stunning sprint victory. And what makes the image even more meaningful is the context: the win was the result of fantastic teamwork, with the team coming together to launch Van Uden into the perfect position. A textbook sprint in his very first Grand Tour. The emotion is raw, real, and unforgettable.
In the centre, a dramatic image of Max Poole battling through the dust of the white gravel roads near Siena during Stage 9, the infamous “Strade Bianche” day. Covered in dirt and fatigue after a long day marked by misfortune, Poole still fights for every second. His eyes are locked forward, his body tense with effort. In the background, the walls of Siena frame the scene like a painting.
On the right, another shot of Poole, now in time trial mode during Stage 10 near Pisa. The contrast between the blurred Tuscan backdrop and the focus on Van Uden gives a perfect sense of motion and speed. It’s a photo that captures both power and precision, the essence of a strong TT.
