Each month, we invite you to choose our Photo of the Month through a vote on our Instagram channel. For October, three very different images were up for the vote, each capturing its own unique side of racing: pain, place, and pure joy.
On the left, Jacob Bush and Gijs Leemrijze driving the breakaway in the Giro dell’Emilia. You can see the strain in their faces, but also the determination to make the most of the day together, framed by the autumn colours of the Emilia region. Team Picnic PostNL lit up the race with their attacking spirit, and although the break was eventually reeled in by the chasing peloton, the photo perfectly captures what this team stands for: courage, teamwork, and full commitment.
In the centre, we travel to China for the Tour of Guangxi. A completely different backdrop, but one equally rich in atmosphere. The shot shows the riders navigating roads far from the usual European scenes — Chinese characters on the buildings behind and Chinese flags waving. It’s a reminder that cycling has truly become a global sport, and that wherever the race goes, the passion follows.
On the right, a return home to the Netherlands, for the very first edition of the Tour of Holland. A home race for Team Picnic PostNL, and the joy of that moment shines through in this photo from the team presentation: smiling faces, team colour scarves, and an unmistakable sense of pride. A fitting, festive way to round off the season in front of home fans.
