Development Team Picnic PostNL lined up for In Flanders Fields – In Ieper, the U23 edition of the race formerly known as Gent-Wevelgem. The riders faced a demanding 186-kilometre course starting and finishing in Ypres, including three ascents of the iconic Kemmelberg. Early in the race, one rider attacked clear before being joined by two others to form the day’s breakaway. Behind, our riders remained attentive in the peloton while conserving energy for the decisive phase of the race later in the day.
As the race reached the Kemmelberg circuits, the pace increased significantly and the peloton gradually reduced in size over the repeated climbs and narrow Flemish roads. After a hard and selective race, it was Cameron Rogers who emerged victorious on the day. Thom van der Werff was our first rider across the line after a tough day of racing in Flanders.
