Le Samyn Men
Following on from the Women’s race on Monday, Team Picnic PostNL’s Men’s program were back in action on Tuesday for laps of the same 30 kilometre loop around Dour and the surrounding area. As expected, it was a race of attrition with riders slowly losing contact with the peloton on each and every lap, especially as a fast tempo had to be set to catch the strong breakaway. In the finale, Frits Biesterbos made it into the reduced peloton to battle it out in the sprint finish, but just as he was opening up his effort he had to check himself, and ultimately finished in 13th place.
