Super 8 Classic followed a familiar route, starting once again in Brakel and finishing in Haacht. As in previous years, the course delivered plenty of tension: its series of punchy climbs made a straightforward bunch sprint unlikely, yet it wasn’t quite selective enough to guarantee a solo winner.
An early break of four riders earned a long leash from the peloton, but the race came alive in the hilly middle section. Multiple attacks from the main field eventually formed a strong chasing group of around thirty riders. Thanks to sharp teamwork from Team Picnic PostNL, Pavel Bittner and Nils Eekhoff both made this split and joined the elite move. For several riders, including Eekhoff, the pace proved too high, and the strong group was whittled down to eighteen riders, with Bittner still present.
With just over 50 kilometres remaining, Bittner was involved in a crash, which unfortunately ended his chances of contesting the finale. The chasers eventually reeled in the original breakaway, setting up a reduced-group sprint for victory. De Lie proved quickest on the day, taking the win. Tim Naberman led the team home.
