Alexy may not come from a cycling family, but his journey into the sport began in the most authentic way possible: riding alongside his older brother. “We started together about 12 years ago,” he says. “My passion grew… and now I am a pro cyclist. It’s a dream for me to live from my passion.”
Before the bike took centre stage, Alexy threw himself into a variety of sports — football, swimming, judo — embracing the competitive and social side of each. It was football, though, that left a lasting impression. “I liked the collective side,” he explains. “In cycling it’s the same: we’re like a family in the races. You have to work as a team, but you also have to do your own job so the others can do theirs. I really like that aspect.”
A naturally curious and driven rider, Alexy says his motivation comes from a simple place: “to always push more, always improve.” But he also finds joy in the quieter moments — endurance rides spent exploring new roads, getting lost just to discover something new. “I really enjoy exploring on my bike, and in life,” he smiles.
His rise through the ranks came quickly. With just one year in the U23 category, 2023 proved to be a breakthrough: fifth overall at the Giro d’Italia Next Gen, 2nd in GC at Giro Ciclistico della Valle d’Aosta, and French U23 national champion. “It was strange for me,” he admits. “Cycling wasn’t a job — it was just my passion. I was improving because I was enjoying myself.”
He stepped into the WorldTour in 2024 and immediately showed his talent with a top ten on GC in his first race. Yet that season and the following year brought challenges too with some health issues and a serious crash involving a car — on the day of his birthday — which forced two months completely off the bike. “It was a really bad period for me,” he says quietly. “But I fixed the problems, and now this story is behind me.”
That’s where Team Picnic PostNL comes in — as a fresh start. “I wanted to change environments,” Alexy explains. “I like the professional aspect here. I want to know exactly what I have to do and to work 100 percent towards it. With those things taken care of you’re calm, and you know where you are and how to improve.”
As a rider, Alexy sees himself as a climber who has recently added strong five-minute power to his toolbox. “I improved a lot last year. I’m still a climber, but I can survive harder courses I think.”
Looking ahead, his goals are simple and honest: “I want to be back at my top level, to be competitive in races, to be an actor in the team for the team. That’s the most important for me.”
Describing himself as “quiet”, “motivated” and “professional”, Alexy embodies calm determination — a rider who has already weathered setbacks, and who now steps into his next chapter with clarity, hunger, and a renewed sense of purpose.
