A new rider to the Development program in 2025, Anton was born and raised in Roskilde, Denmark, which is 35 kilometres to the west of the capital Copenhagen. Coming from cycling stock, the sport seems to be a family affair for Anton with his dad starting from a young age, his little brother also competing and his uncle on his dad’s side having even won a Giro stage before.
It wasn’t all smooth sailing for the young Dane though, as he took up the sport at the age of nine but stopped quickly.
“I think I was a bit too young and not ready, because when I did races, I was so nervous beforehand that I would almost start crying.”
Taking roughly a year out, a then over ten-year-old Anton decided one day that he wanted to give it another shot and since then he has never looked back. Although doing gymnastics and football for a period, cycling was ultimately the sport for him.
Coming through the ranks and honing his abilities with his local team, Anton produced consistent performances in 2023 over a variety of terrain. 2024 saw him raise his arms aloft at De Fokker Slag Om Woensdrecht which was swiftly followed by stage glory at Course de la Paix Juniors, and a reduced sprint win at GP Rüebliland Juniors.
“I think I’m good at sprints and in the shorter TTs, as well as over the smaller climbs and cobbles too. It’s hard to say though because in the juniors you see that the best riders are good at everything, so we will see where it goes in the future with the team as I get older. I want to learn about everything in the next years; how the team races, trains, about nutrition – I just want to develop and get better each season.”
