Cycling has always been a family affair for Finn. Growing up with a dad and older brother who spent hours on the bike, it didn’t take long for him to follow. Before that, however, he built a strong endurance foundation through running — something that shaped the kind of rider he would become. “I’ve always enjoyed endurance sports,” he says. “They’re very hard… but I like when things get tough.”
Despite trying a bit of everything — a season of cyclocross, a touch of track — it was the road that captured him. He describes himself as someone who loves the competitive side of the sport, but also the simple pleasure of being on a long ride. “You can see so many places on a bike that you just can’t experience the same way in a car,” he says. “Nothing beats that feeling.”
Finn spent his junior years with Zappi Racing Team, gaining experience across Italy’s passionate and vibrant racing culture. “It’s so different to the UK,” he explains. “The whole village comes out, every race has sponsors; the atmosphere is amazing.” It was also where he began to collect strong results, progressing significantly in his second junior year.
The step to the U23 ranks can feel huge — a mix of excitement, nerves, and unknowns — but Finn sees Team Picnic PostNL as the perfect place to take that leap. Based next season at the Keep Challenging Center in Sittard, he’s already spoken with some of the Brits in the squad. “They said it’s a great team,” Finn smiles. “I’m excited for what’s next.”
For now, he’s not looking too far ahead. “I want the first years to go as well as possible,” he says. “Step by step. Hopefully progress to the WorldTour team one day — that’s the goal.”
As for his rider type, Finn doesn’t hesitate: “Definitely a climber.” His strong performances in races such as Olgiate M – Ghisallo confirm that profile, where the demanding terrain suits his engine and mindset.
When asked to describe himself in three words, he settles on: happy, outgoing and brave. Although he admits that he, “Still a few things to work on,” but hopes to come out of his shell even more and bring the good vibes to the Development program.
Quietly ambitious and grounded, Finn arrives at Team Picnic PostNL with the enthusiasm of someone who loves the sport deeply — and the potential to keep climbing both literally and figuratively.
