Laying the building blocks in his first year in juniors, 2024 saw Pavel have a standout campaign where he took a whopping 17 wins, in individual stages or overall titles. Now in 2025 the young rider from Czechia makes the step up to the U23 ranks with the team’s Development program.
Pavel began riding his bike at around five years old, but it was more in a recreational format to start with and then at the age of nine he began racing. As he grew older, Pavel took the sport more seriously and purposefully started training for it around the age of 14. Starting with mountain bike and cyclocross, he used road mostly to train for those things but as he got older and improved, he made the switch to road full-time.
“I really just enjoy going fast so you can do that most on the road, and I also like the aggressive riding style that road racing brings.”
At a younger age Pavel also did athletics and floorball, but it was cycling that ultimately won him over in the end. A motivated individual, when talking about the sport, Pavel’s competitive side shines through.
“I’m someone who looks at their numbers in training and wants to do better, whilst also conscious of how I feel. Honestly, I just like to race my bike. I like to get the best out of myself and of course I love to win as well.”
It’s often a big step from the juniors to the U23 ranks, but Pavel is facing it with more excitedness than nervousness and his attitude is to “help the team in the best possible way” and just “learn as much” as he can in the first few years with the squad.
A quiet but friendly character, Pavel is someone who comes more out of his shell the longer you know him, and the young Czech rider would describe himself as a “smiling and positive person.” Aiming to take those good vibes to the Development program, he wants to bring his positive energy to the group and add to an environment of fun together off the bike. Equally he describes himself as someone who can “motivate” everyone to get the best out of each other at races.
Those good vibes might be brought onto the team bus if he is handed the aux cable, and he gets the chance to blast out some of his favourite music – Czech rap. Or equally the “sometimes crazy” Pavel can be caught practicing making some funny noises or sounds – so either way we’re sure there won’t be a quiet moment with him around!
Away from the bike Pavel is like a lot of teenagers and when he’s not spending time with his friends or family, you can find him catching up on some sleep and rest after a ride or loading up his favourite video game – GTA.
