Coming from Koolskamp in the West Flanders region of Belgium, Xander is a new recruit to the team’s Development program in 2025. A promising and good two years in the junior ranks saw Xander take strong results over a variety of terrain, from time to trails to reduced sprints, and even the cobbles at Nokere Koerse.
“Skelle” as he’s known by his friends back home, Xander came into the sport of cycling due to his dad, who is also an avid cyclist. From around the age of ten he started with his local club and his love for the sport progressed from there. Xander has tried his hand at all things two wheels with mountain bike, cyclocross and track cycling also getting their fair share of attention from him, but road racing has always been his main passion. At a younger age he did also do the sport of judo for around six years but gave that up because it took too much time away from cycling.
“I’m not someone who can sit still on the couch all day. I like to be outside.”
It’s no surprise then that Xander enjoys the freedom and outdoor nature that cycling brings. This combined with his competitive outlook makes cycling almost the perfect sport for him.
“In training I like to beat myself in sprints or do efforts better than I did the previous time. I’m someone that likes to see that progression and growth week-by-week, or month-by-month and that really motivates me to keep going and get better.”
