The final day of racing at the Tour of Britain Women saw the peloton take on ten laps of an eight kilometre circuit. Taking place on the city streets, a variety of technical corners and sections awaited the peloton, alongside a couple of short ramps, but a flatter finish was expected to produce a bunch sprint. Team Picnic PostNL were active from the start making sure that no dangerous break could slip clear without their presence.
With around 35 kilometres to go Megan Jastrab, who started the day in the top ten on GC, crashed – but she was able to return to the bunch on her second bike and help the team ahead of the sprint finish. Despite some late attacks, the race was all together heading into the last three kilometres with the team focusing on bringing fast finisher Charlotte Kool into a spot where she could launch her sprint from. Dropped off under the flamme rouge before they entered the tight roads of Glasgow Green, Kool followed the wheels well and was in second position coming out of the final corner; the place she would finish in a few hundred metres later. Coming home in the bunch safely, Jastrab secured her top ten overall with a seventh place – a nice reward after a consistent week of racing.
